Default How to make money in GuildWars And GuildWars Factions

Now before someone says use the search button, i would like this thread to be a list of how everyone gets their money, and not the money that just gets them that 1.5k droknars armor but that can help get the big stuff like higher end armor/guild halls/guild improvements and such. Any avenue of getting money can be listed here no flaming against 55 hp monks and such as it is the case in other threads. So to sum things up:

In YOUR opinion what is the best and legal way to get money in Guildwars and Guildwars Factions, with no restrictions other than that. Remember no flaming If you dont like the ideas presented here you are not being forced to follow or believe them.

Materials Materials Materials. That is the easiest way to go. It requires no real farming just the ability to pick up all the crap drops you get along the way and salvage them. then take them to artisan Daved and spend the small amount of gold to turn them into rare things like parchment and steel. Parchment averages out to about 60% profit on the initial investment which isn't bad at all. Steel is spiking. Now that running is kind of out of the question in Cantha the best way to go is materials. People always need new armor.

Yes Strob0 thats what i have been doing so far, sometimes i find it hard to sell it to people though. I have been trying Droknars and LA to sell my materials such as iron, wood, steel, and tanned square hides.
-I guess thats the one downside to that technique. Or am i just selling it in wrong prices and in wrong places?

You need to hit cantha. Materials sell in a big way there because the armors utilize some of those more or less unused items like monsterous eyes and steel in a big way.

I guess...My 55 hp farming on trolls outside of Droks is going really slow. Anyone else have any suggestions? Are any greens (prophecies and factions) going for much? Pref Prophecies.

Gotta agree with Strobo on this. I do farm ettins, but my main profit comes from the materials, not the runes (unless I get a lucky drop, most runes are 500 gold or less to sell anyway).

Put it this way, I currently have one stack (not all full stacks) of each common material in my storage, plus maybe 8 different rare materials in there with varying amounts, and if I were to sell those to the npcs at today's prices, there's another 50k sitting there that I have yet to cash in And of course players will pay more for that (though I never bother selling to players unless I see someone requesting it at the time)

Lol. Is UW farming still viable now that ectoplasms are only like 4.5k? How many ectos do you get per run on average nowadays.

Right now, I'd say chest farming the Cantha late game, and faction farming + selling amber.

I'm so mad I'm cut off from the game till friday T_T

The dragon mini-pet totally makes up for it though^^

I just go kill things, collect all the garbage, fill my inventory with junk, sell it to the merchant, and steadily make money that way. Works great if you solo, but I've noticed in some missions, with a full group of henches, you can easily make up to 2k by picking up all the junk they drop too. This is in prophecies by the way. I'm a regular junk collector I guess, because every piece of junk is worth 50 gold or more in the high end areas, with the occasional precious items and purple/gold drops (which mostly go to the merchant if not worthy of salvage). All those 50 gold items along with other things start to add up after a while. I've gotten about 5 sets of 15k armor so far doing that, and am experimenting around with dyes now, maybe I'll work on another 15k set, but I think I'm pretty good at the moment. If I need materials, I just start salvaging the armor drops I get instead of selling them to the merchant.

I second materials... third?... I just agree with it. I can't see wasting my time playing alone and soloing with a 55 build. Been there, done that, just about quit the game from boredom.

I also suggest another route, buy an ident kit and just identify blues through golds and sell everything. Don't buy keys. Don't waste cash on stuff you really don't need.

Right now it seems the ecto market is pretty much dead Jim. If it hits 4k though, I'm going to buy like 100 of them. Small investment if it picks back up.

identify everything before selling, it increases the value and gold you can get for the item from merchants. when I farm runes, majors usually always sell for like 25g to rune trader. identifying them gives them a value of around 50 something. I then instead of selling to rune trader for the 25g, I sell to regular merchant for the 50 something gold. why sell off two majors for 50 when I could sell the same two for 100. minor runes after also ups the merchant value slightly, these I sell to rune trader since they like to actually give me the value they've been identified as. not a lot of money gained, but every little bit counts.

materials are the way to go of course. wood, iron, steel, tanned hides are probably the most common and will end up giving you several k for even small stacks.

You can spend a lot of gold on keys chest farming, and no one wants to give you beans for a near perfect gold anymore with greens falling out of the sky everywhere.

Pick it up, ID it and sell it, and be doing it on a run where you just may come across a 'to die for' green.

1. Farm Cantha Chests sell 15^50 bows/warrior weapons in LA to c1 peeps for more then what they're worth(or before they realize you get a 15^50 almost every time).
2. Farm Celestial Weapons and sell the 15^50's you get.
3. Farm the max new greens from cantha bosses and sell.
4. Farm end game greens and sell.
5. Mini-Pet Market(buy low sell high).
6. Rune Trader Lottery (spam them until u get a sup rit/assn rune and sell for x3 the amount)
7. Buy CE and sell the dragon pet.

SF Farming is dead since all their greens are dirt cheap or have been replaced by canthan collectors.
2 man UW is slow, and even more now that ecto are 5k at trader.

The materials market is so volitale right now with things I used to ignore now being worth a lot. I am having a grand old time farming areas I never thought to farm before and making some money. Plant Fibers, Chittins, and Cloth are pretty valuable right now, so my efforts have been to gather up things that have a fair number of those "in the raw" or salvageable from other items and getting around 1,000 gold for every 10 minutes of farming. And that is just the common farming materials. Rare Materials are also realy coming up in certain categories like Steel and Charcoal.

Agree with a lot of peeps here. Materials. Rune market is crashing but you can still make a little there.
